Dr. Pavani D.

Dr. D. Pavani, is a Veena artiste with proficiency in Vocal music too.   She has been passionately into music research and teaching, having taught Carnatic Music Veena and Vocal to undergraduate students for over two decades.  She has also served as the Associate Editor of ‘PRANAVAM’ a bi-lingual quarterly Music Magazine.  A Gold Medalist in M.A., (Music – Veena), armed with M.Phil., and Ph.D., (Music), she is the recipient of Senior Research Fellowship and Junior Research Fellowship awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

She writes articles for music magazines in her own name and also under the pseudonym ‘Vallaki’. Apart from giving lectures and performances at various Sabhas, she has also presented papers in International and National Seminars / Conferences and has authored a few books on music. She is serving as a Member of the Board of Studies for Distance Education at National Sanskrit University, Tirupati and also as an Examiner, for Board of Examinations at Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad. She is also on the editorial Board of Telangana Sangeeta Nataka Akademi for the encyclopaedic work on Musical heritage of Telangana.

With research interests in Study of Music Treatises and Manuscripts, Analytical and Stylistic Studies in Music, Study of Music in Inter-disciplinary subjects and allied Art forms and Music Pedagogy, she is currently working on a few research publications and authoring music books for the benefit of students. Before taking up music as her profession, she worked in the Finance departments of Corporate companies for about 10 years.

Dr. Aranyakumar Munenni

A multi instrumental artiste, Dr. Aranyakumar studied Maihar style instrumental Music under legendary Sarod Maestro Pt.Rajeev Taranath, Sitarist Pt. Sudhir Phadke and Smt.Sandhya Apte. Belonging to the family of North Karnataka ‘Bayalata’ drama writer Shri Shivanand Kavi Munenni, he also studied about eight classical instruments under Gurus Shri Palaxadeva, Ustad Hameed Khan, Pt.Partha Chatterjee and Smt.Vidyavati Vajpeyi. He is credited with All India Radio ‘A’ grade in Sitar and ‘B High’ grade in Surbahar, Dilruba, Tarshehnai and Esraj instruments. Alongside, he is skilled in playing and teaching Sarod, Harmonium, Violin, Santoor, Tabla instruments.

Aranyakumar is honored with Swarsamrat Pt.Basavraj Rajguru Rashtriya Yuva Puraskar, Dharwad (2018), Tansen Music Academy Yuva Kala Puraskar, Chennai (2018), Appashri Prashasthi, Kadaravalli (2020). Recognizing his musical achievements, a documentary titled ‘Bandish’ was produced by PSBT and broadcasted by Doordarshan in 2006. He has performed in major cultural festivals of National and International venues such as Conservatory of Vicenza in Italy.

Aranyakumar has worked as Textbook Committee Member for PUE Board of Karnataka. His book ‘Hindustani Samaya Raga Parichaya’ was rewarded by Kannada Pustaka Pradhikar of Bangalore. He was a founder president of ‘Dharwad Music Society’ and ‘Nadayoga Society, Gajaminal’ the organizations working for the benefits of the Music field and rural people. He is currently working on Wolf-tone management in Esraj & Dilruba instruments. He is skilled in making musical instruments and working on designing of a new instrument.

Dr. Pragya Pyasi

Dr. Pragya Pyasi received her doctoral degree in Music from the Bhatkhande Sangeet Sansthan [Deemed University], Lucknow. Currently she is receiving training in Hindustani Instrumental Music – Sitar in Guru-Shishya Parampara under Pandit Sanjoy Bandopadhyay, the internationally acknowledged sitar maestro, academician and Guru. She participated in a number of International and National Seminars organized by reputed institutes of the country. Her articles have been published in a number of peer reviewed journals. She performed in various cities including festival organized by the U.P. Sangeet Natak Academy, Lucknow.

Her scholastic and research interests include: Music pedagogy, Stylistic analysis of music and interdisciplinary studies involving Music, allied art forms and other disciplines like psychology, sociology etc. She worked on the Impact of music learning over academic performance of school children, Synaesthesia in art and Impact of Social Changes on Indian Classical Music. She is currently involved in a research project that is working to understand the effect of learning Indian Music on the emotional intelligence and cognitive skills of the school children between ten and fourteen years.

She was associated with two NGO’s working for Indian Art and Culture. She worked as Director of AAROHAN (Jhansi) for five years and Secretary of TWISHA, Jeypore (Odisha) and organized several workshops in schools of remote areas of Odisha and Uttar Pradesh to spread awareness about Indian Music and searching out hidden rural talents and motivate them to learn Indian Classical music. She is appointed as External Examiner by Indira Kala Sangeet University, Khairagarh.
